Services-Nittany Online Marketing
As an online marketing consultant, my job is to evaluate our particular client’s current site and industry trends. Once this process is completed, I will consult with the client and make suggestions on what the site needs and what measures need to be taken to drive the site to a higher position in Google, which will drive tons of traffic the client’s web page. There are a litany of things that can be done to improve the traffic to a website and bring targeted customers to your business. My goal is to have our costumers view the process as an investment in their business. Online marketing is not like many other old or outdated marketing services. With us you will see a direct increase in costumers from the traffic and you will earn dollars for pennies. To me, a minimum return goal is a multiplier of five. In other words, for every dollar that you hand me, I will give you 5 back. Below is list of services that we perform here at Nittany Online Marketing. Please do not let this list overwhelm you because most businesses do not need all of these done, at least not to begin with. I will list them in order of both when the should be done and their importance.
KEYWORD RESEARCH
This is where the whole process begins. Keywords are simply the words people use to look things up on Google. Online Marketers like use are very aware of keywords because they are the back bone of what we do.You have to know what keywords for your particular market are out there, how many people type them in each month and how competitive they are. This all sounds very simple but it be a very tedious process. We use the newest and most high tech product in the market today for keywords and it is still very mind numbing. The reason why it is so important to begin here is that you need to know what your target words are before you begin or you are just poking blindly in the dark.
ONSITE SEO
If you look around the Internet for ways to help your site you will see the term SEO thrown around a lot. It stands for Search Engine Optimization, which a fancy way of saying, “lets make Google like your website.” This a process of sprucing up you site so that it is not penalized by google for silly things. These silly but hugely important items are things like, meta tags, broken links, keyword density, content, deep linking, and many, many others. This is also a very tedious process but it is imperative to increasing traffic. Another example of this is if your site was made before word press 2.0 came out, you might be using a static page for your site, which google doesn’t care for anymore.
DIRECTORY SUBMISSIONS
Many business owners do several directory submissions and realize the importance of them. However, with the Internet, there are always many more than you would ever imagine. These are important for several reasons. The obvious is that you get your name out there and it helps brand yourself and your company. Secondly, directories provide quality back links to your site also, which Google views as relevant. There are many free ones and a few paid directories that should be considered. This is entirely up to the client.
LOCAL SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZING
Local Search Engine Optimizing is the process of continually doing the things that are needed to get the client listed in as many different local keywords as possible. There is usually one or two major keywords in each niche which are obvious. But remember all the keyword research we did earlier? Well, here is where we really start to utilize them. This also includes getting the client’s site on the “Local Search Results” of google. To many, getting listed on the local business results is a mystery but we know the secret to it. This usually gets you right up near the top of the page by the natural listings.
NATURAL SEARCH OPTIMIZING
This is the exciting stuff to me because I believe that it is the most important. Don’t get me wrong, we need to do all of the earlier stuff in the beginning to get here, but this is the most important objective. OK, so what does it mean? When you do a search in Google and the page comes up to view, you will notice a few things. At the very top is a pink box with a few links in it. These are paid listings, usually by national clients. They are expensive and surprisingly, not that effective. They receive 2 to 3 percent of the clicks for whatever keyword was used. Below the paid links is the “Natural Listings” these are links to sites are NOT paid for. They are ranked by Google for what Google thinks is their significance and authority. This is the spot that you want to be in for the keywords in you market. Incidentally the ads along the right side are paid for also and they receive 1 to 2 percent of the clicks. If you are in one through eight positions on the natural listing your site will receive a bigger percentage of the clicks than the paid sites. And, if you are number ONE for a given keyword, you can expect to get a minimum of 40 percent of the total visitors. So if the keyword is “Allentown Plumbers” and 5000 people punch in that keyword a month, the number one natural site for that keyword would receive at least 2000 visitors to the site. That is significant and to me possibly life changing. Just imagine getting almost 50% of the traffic to your website for a big keyword, it could double your business.
ARTICLE AND BLOG MARKETING
The key to getting a site pushed up through the natural listings in Google is back linking. Back linking is the process of putting live links on other sites that point back to yours. The more significant and authoritative these sites are the better. In other words, if I could link from Firestone back to my site that is a Tire Repair Shop, it would be significant and is way more powerful than a link from a Dog Grooming Site to my Tire Repair Shop site. The problem is, it’s tough to get powerful links. That is why, to me, article marketing is the best method for this. There are two types of article marketing strategies. The first is onsite content articles. Google likes good content so having nice articles on your site will help in many ways. The second article method is to write good content articles, for you niche, and submit them to huge, powerful article directories. On these articles, we will put live back links to your site which will help drive it up through Google. I believe that every site should have at least one new onsite article and one new off site article per month.
Blog marketing is the same concept as article marketing except the live links back to your site come from powerful blogs instead of articles. We here at Nittany Online have several blogs at our disposal and will use them to help you. We also have access to some very high paged rank sites that will allow us to backlink from them to you.
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING
Everyone is aware of how huge social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and You Tube have become. These can be very handy tools for branding your business and they help for some back linking also. I tend to discuss this with clients to see where they’re at with it, on their own. I can provide social media management for them but I prefer that the client takes a stab at it themselves first.
Video can be a very valuable tool for business owners also. This especially true if the your business has a new service or product that their competitors don’t have and you want to get the word out to the masses.
MONTHLY REPORTING
And lastly, I believe that it is important to our costumers, that we stay in touch with them on some, if not all of the services that we are providing for them. This is another process that I like to tailor to the individual client. One thing I do know, is that you are all busy trying to run your businesses. So, the last thing we want to do here is get in your way. At the very least, we send out a small report every month showing how your site is doing what we are working on for you. For really hands on clients, I will gladly send you email updates every few days so you can see what we are up to. I also like to meet with on going clients ever few months to see if there have been changes in their business or other trends in their market that I need to be abreast of. Sometimes I hear of these changes before the client does, so the information can flow both ways. Please also keep in mind that if you are a client of Nittany Online Marketing, you are exclusive to you area and niche. I will never sign you as a client and then walk down the street and sign your competitor. I believe that it is unethical to pit two clients against one another in the same market. You pay a little more for that piece of mind, but it is well worth it.
